How Much Meat do I get?

We work on dressed weight. This is the weight after partially butchering the animal and removing its internal organs. It includes bones, meat, and fat. I’ve previously explained what dressed weight meat means, and you can read that post by clicking the link.

For this reason it is difficult to know exactly how much meat you’ll get in our beef packs. It can be hard to visualise what that means in terms of the actual cuts, right? For this reason I’ve broken it down for you.

Our Dressed Weigh examples

Whole beastapproximately 265 kilograms dressed weight
Half beastapproximately 132 kilograms dressed weight
Quarter beastapproximately 66 kilograms dressed weight

Example of the amounts of each cut

While every animal varies in weight and dressed meat includes fat, bones, and other parts, the actual weight of the pack you receive will be unique. Additionally, each butcher cuts slightly differently, so the number of each cut will also vary from order to order. Below is just an EXAMPLE of the quantity of each cut you might receive. This is from a beast that was a dressed weight of 255 kilograms.

Please remember , this is just an example only and not the exact amount of each cut you will receive in your order.

To see an example of the kilos of each cut would be in a Quarter divide the half beast figures by 2.

It may seem like an unusual way to present and sell the meat but it is a standard industry practice when dealing with a whole, half and quarter beast and you will note that most of our competitors deal with the meat in this way as well. It is how we as a small farm business can provide high quality meat at such a reasonable price per kilo compared to the larger supermarkets and butchers.

What half a beast looks like?

How do our prices compare?

As a result of a a comparison undertaken of the price per kilogram from major supermarkets versus our pricing.

This result highlights how we compare in terms of value for each kilogram of meat. Comparison completed on 5 September 2024 from Coles and Woolworths online stores. The price per kilo quotes is based on the cost of a half or quarter beast.
