The Beginnings
Hello and welcome to Morgans Meadow!
We are a family of 4 living in Yarrawonga NSW running sheep on our farm. I was the original city slicker. Having grown up in the Shire (Sutherland) near Cronulla beach and spent most of my career working in the City of Sydney. I met my husband 15 years ago and he was south western Sydney guy who grew up on 5 acres.
He regularly tried to convince me that life on a property would be better but I resisted. I would go out hunting on his friends big farms catching pigs with him and actually enjoy it (not that I told him). Eventually I would also be happy to assist his mate doing cattle work – which little did I know until I was in the middle of it meant de-horning and knackering steers as well as preg-testing heifers.
Point of View Changing
Eventually I started to think about what it would be like to live in the country. I started to have a look and even found a property out near Bathurst that we ended up seriously contemplating until I got cold feed and promptly informed my husband it was ‘off the table.
Fast forward 4 years or so and I had never stopped wondering what our lives might have been like had we made the bold move. I had continued to look at property and on the drive back from Tamworth one day I mentioned a property I had been casually looking at that we should check out. Hubby was a bit taken aback as he had shelved the dream, however it was now back on the table – a tree change.
End State
Took us a little bit but we eventually found something we liked and the stars aligned. We sold and moved from Sydney in 2020 just as the pandemic hit. Best decision ever!
Looked at some different options but settled on farming sheep and threw in a couple of horses for good measure as that was a little deal sweetener (along with motor bikes) when we moved the kids from the city. If you are interested in ordering one of our sheep see our Order Page
